A few months back I got a text message from Madame Imee, Carla’s mom. I thought she’s going to ask for suppliers for their company event at RFM since I referred a few before. But I was wrong, she texted to ask me if we’re still free for June 15, 2010 and I said yes. Mark, her eldest son, is getting married and she’s getting us to coordinate his wedding. Mark is a doctor who specializes in Internal Medicine while Chona (his bride, of course) is an Ob-Gyne at Ospital ng Makati.
I was so happy (we have a returning client.. yey!) that I shared the news with my friends. It’s not always that a former client would keep your contact number and hire you again for their next event. Well, I was thinking since brides these days are so hands-on they decide who they’ll hire, not their mothers or their future mother in-laws. But I guess Madame Imee likes us so much that she insisted on hiring us again for Month of the Wedding Coordination together with some of the suppliers from Carla’s wedding such Francis Day, WedPlus and Manila Hotel.
They were so cute when they performed a special number with their friends. Chona sure knows how to dance!
I love Chona’s mom. She’s so warm and gives time to get to know you. She said she’s ready to let go of Chona but she wasn’t. She was really crying when she saw Chona prepare for her walk. I guess this was why Chona had a whole roll of tissue in her bridal bag. I was so touched when she kept on insisting that I eat with them and forget about work.
Insights from this wedding:
Consider providing handfans for our guests if your church is not air-conditioned. Let the men wear the traditional barong instead of suits.
Also, when hiring a florist to do your event styling, make sure that everything is listed in your contract. Better if they can peg a price for each item. Don’t forget to ask if they need a meal allowance for their team or if this is included in the price quote.
Other than the payments for the suppliers, Madame Imee entrusted me extra money for emergency purposes that day. It sure helped a lot and I didn’t have to bother her time and time again. She was one busy host that night, entertaining family and friends. I just handed her the change from the money she gave me at the end of the program.
